Our Approach
Be PositiveBe positive with your child as they learn to swim. Reinforce the positive and ignore the negative. Look for things your child is doing well and praise him/her. Try to avoid negative words. Do not bring negative energy and have fun.
Be ProactiveYou may find that your child will pull stunts like: hiding their swimsuit or distract themselves with other things rather than swimming. Doing things like preparing the swim bag the night before can make a major difference. Always be in control of the situation.
Have A Good DietBe sure your child eats a well-balanced diet. Prior to lessons, avoid apples and apple products (including juice), hot dogs, pineapple, papaya, peaches, boiled spinach and celery. Be sure your child does not eat for two hours prior to a lesson to avoid vomiting and cramps. Gatorade and Powerade are recommend after lessons to replace the electrolytes lost during hard exercise. If you need to feed your child, toast or oatmeal are the recommended food choices.
